We're back
Prior to the pandemic, travel and tourism had become one of the most important sectors in the world economy, accounting for 10% of the global GDP and more than 320 million jobs worldwide. The pandemic brought these global gatherings to a sudden halt, emptying convention centers, shuttering hotels and impacting over 100 million jobs across the globe.
"We went to extraordinary measures to get the operational partners up and running. It's a testament to the operational excellence of the event."
In this episode, Matt will explore the implications of the pandemic on the travel and tourism industry, and the trends we can expect to see going forward. Broadcasting straight from the Mobile World Congress in Los Angeles, he sits down with the CEO of GSMA John Hoffman, the Chief Marketing Officer of the GSMA, Stephanie Lynch-Habib and the Senior Vice President of sales for the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board, Darren Green.
"Look at all these other venues opening. It's such a great story to tell and I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to be part of a great city like LA."
During the episode, Matt and his guests discuss the past, present and future of the travel and tourism industry, and how it will bounce back from the pandemic.
